SPIRITUAL HEALING
A BRIEF INSIGHT TO SPIRITUAL HEALING
Healing has been around for thousands of years, attitude towards healing has changed considerably over time, and attitudes are still varied between different countries in the present day.
EARLY HISTORY
Cavemen in northern Europe painted hands, depicting spiritual healing images some 15,000 years ago. Our own beliefs are that spiritual healing has probably existed much longer than this, and that early man had senses and powers way beyond what we know today. Early man was sensitive to earth's energies and the sitting of stone circles may have been for healing purposes, long before sacrificial views. It is known that lots of Christian churches high altar were often built on a vortex of energy.
THE GREEKS
Greek philosophy contains script to spiritual healing, the attitudes of early philosophers saw the body as being invisible from the soul.
THE EGYPTIANS
The Egyptians practised spiritual healing. The earliest documented healer Imhotep was healer to King Zoser. Imhotep was revered as a healer and a temple in his name housed the sick who believed that sleeping and praying in the temple would improve their conditions.
THE SHAMEN
The Shamen is the head person in tribal cultures, the idea is thought to have started in Northern Russia initially, then spreading to Africa and Asia. The Shamen is usually male, possessing powers of a medium between human and the supernatural. He combines religion and healing together. The Shamen often uses self hypnosis , hallucinogenic drugs, chanting, mantras and drum beating, the Shamen then goes into altered state which healing is then effected.
THE WITCHCRAFT ACT
The witchcraft act, although lying dormant since the early 1700s was used in WWII for the imprisonment of Helen Duncan, a spiritualist medium. Churchill later relented and she was released, and the witchcraft act repealed close to the end of WWII. This did not stop the local authorities from hounding her and many others.
HARRY EDWARDS
The healer of our times. Harry Edwards was active mainly between the 1950s - 1970s having huge healing demonstrations in public. The demonstration for his 80th birthday held at the Albert Hall had over 100 healers present on stage and viewed by thousands, Harry instigated the healing minute which is still observed by many today.
OTHER COMPLIMENTARY THERAPIES - CRYSTALS
